2001 Toyota Tundra Rust Problems
The company decided to recall Tundra because frame rust is extremely dangerous for drivers.

But the Toyota Tundra and Sequoia also had rust issues around this time. We own a 2001 Tundra with severe rust problems on the frame brakes body parts spare tire suspension and nuts and bolts all. Severe frameframe-rail rust requiring either a new frame or frame anti-rust treatment.
2001 Tundra SR5. My car otherwise is in very good condition 150000 miles. While driving 50 mph and making a right turn the contact heard an abnormal noise and the front passenger side wheel detached from the vehicle and was stuck on the side.
This can be a major issue and lead to structural integrity. After notification from Toyota about frame rusting problem an inspection was done by Toyota dealer in 2011 and I was told the frame was fine. Hot Cars said that the frames were not properly treated in the beginning and mainly became damaged in the rear.
Many F150 owners had complain about this at the time. However others are left to shoulder the cost of expensive repairs on their own. The frames were supplied by Dana Holding Corp in Maumee Ohio.
