2008 toyota tundra bed rust recall. 2000 Tundra Limited garage kept factory drop in bed liner bed cover since almost new. Toyota announced late last year they will be replacing the frames of certain 2005-2008 Toyota Tacomas if they have rust perforation of their frames due to road salt under limited service campaign LSC E0D. The engine type is 40L V6 DOHC 24V.

SET number for this recall is SET16B. Showed the nice man the rust and he said and with a very blank look on his face. Owners may contact SET customer service at 1-866-405-4226.

2008 Toyota Tundra has an enjoyable REGULAR CAB PICKUP 2-DR body style. But the warranty extension is now running out and some owners are missing their cutoff date. The recall on my 2007 Toyota Tundra for rusted frame was inspected by the dealer who said they would spray it with rust prohibitive.

Toyota has spent billions repairing rusting and rotting frames going back 20 years. Over on tundra solutions there is a big thread regarding rust on the bed floor. The recall began on July 14 2016.

The rust is actually bubbling up the rhino linerToyota did issue a recall for this issue however mine was not showing these issues at the time now the recall has expired. To fix it Toyota recommends replacing the entire box and bed at 6000 to 7000. Otherwise they will be cleaning applying a rust-inhibiting coating to the inside and outside of the frame rails.

I have read a lot of the old posts on this issue and it seems theres not much you can do to fix it or prevent it other than maybe slow it down with something like POR-15 paint. Not sure home much it will matter long term at least slow. I asked my dealer many times over the years if there were any recalls on my truck and it was always No until recently.
